Welcome Fifth Graders!

As discussed in class, this website will be used as a forum to help us read, learn, grow and communicate our Catholic faith.

This week you provided the following petitions. Lord, please hear our prayers.

1.) For world peace.
2.) For Kayla's Great Grandmother.
3.) For all the sick and the hungry
4.) For those that smoke to stop smoking.
5.) For all students to have a good school year.
6.) To keep our famlies safe and healthy
7.) For Zach's aunt to feel better.
8.) For Diana's cousin's friend with Lou Gerigh's disease.
9.) For our pets and grandparents.
10.) For those in need both physically & emotionally.

Jesus, we know you are with us. We will call on your name always. Jesus, you know all our needs. You are always ready to help us. Give us the courage to be your faithful followers each and every day. Amen.

This week we reflected, prayed and responded to the following:

What ought to be our gratitude for God's great love? What part does the cross play in your personal life? Do you wear a cross as a reminder of God's unlimited love and Jesus' willingness to give his life for us? Or is it merely a piece of jewelry? How can we imitate the model of love and Jesus' unselfish love in our families and in our relationships with friends?

Justin is our reflection star of the week. Justin's response can be found below. Great job, Justin!

To me, a cross is a symbol of everything good and pure. It is also a symbol of protection to me. Our gratitude to God should be shown by doing good, unselfish things towards other people and things, especially God, Jesus, and Mary whom we should also respect and pray to. We can't imitate Jesus's unselfish love because we are human, but we can try our best to do so. To try and imitate Jesus's love, we should be the best we can at being like Jesus, and doing so not for rewards, but the joy of strengthening our bond between friends, family, animals, nature, people, and especially God, Jesus, Mary and all the angels. So, it strengthens our bond with almost everything.

Homework for next week:

1.) Read pages 27-31 in your workbook.
2.) Complete worksheet.
3.) Bring in signed forms if you forgot this week.

Have a great week!

Jesus said, "...all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it, and it shall be yours." (Mark 11:24)
